Last year, my husband’s mother passed. He was raised in a house full of antiques because both she and his late father were collectors. Upon her passing, the antiques were distributed among her 4 children. She’s only been gone a year so we haven’t had an awful lot of time (and to be honest, energy) to look through the antiques but one of the items is a gorgeous Persian rug that made a huge impression on John when he was growing up. But we’ve recently realized we’re not quite sure how to tell whether it’s a genuine Persian rug. Sentimental memories make it priceless to my husband anyway but curiosity has driven us to try to figure it out for ourselves. My husband forwarded me this newsletter from a Hollywood rug store on how to identify a Persian rug. Can anyone recommend any other telltale signs? I don’t think we have the money to get it appraised at the moment. But while we’re on the subject does anyone know how much an appraisal for a rug might cost?

This is a little late, however, K A Menendian in Columbus, OH deals with those rugs. I knew a man from Persia who made rugs there. I would definitely contact them, they have been in business for 50 yrs or more. Blessings
