I have taken in an Antique Pistol that I need some help identifying and possibly getting some sort of value put to it.

I thought this pistol was a dueling pistol circa 1860-1880 but have since learned it is more like 1760-1790.

The only markings that I find are ISH & STUBS. It is hallmarked with 2 Crossed Swords & what appears to be a cross on top of the Sword Handles.

Possibly English? The inside of the barrel is 3/4″ and the outside of the barrel is 1″. There is a crack in the wood stock under the barrel. The owner of this pistol would like to try and shoot it. Do you think that would be safe? But any information that someone may have would be greatly appreciated. As for value, while I cannot find this exact pistol, what I have found similar the prices are ALL across the board so I’m really stumped with this one.

I do have photos but they would not upload. If someone can tell me how to get them uploaded on here I would be glad to submit them for you.
