The Toledo Museum of Art was founded in 1901 by industrial Edward Drummond Libbey, who also started the Libbey Glass Company. Libbey's intent was to encourage the education of glassmakers and designers through training and exhibitions. The museum includes the Glass Pavilion gallery and studio in addition to collections of decorative arts, sculpture, paintings, works on paper, and netsuke. Thousands of collections objects can be viewed online.
