The H. J. Heinz Company traces its history back to 1869. Its first product was horseradish, but within a few years Heinz was selling ketchup, celery sauce, pickles, sauerkraut, and vinegar. The condiments were sold in tin cans, glass jars, and tin or stoneware crocks.
