Flow-blue china was made in England, the Netherlands, and the United States from about 1830 to the 1920s. The designs—often oriental motifs, floral patterns, imaginary romanticized landscapes, or historical scenes—were transfer printed on the plates, and the cobalt coloring that was used to create the design on the plate flowed beyond the lines of the pattern.
