Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) was born in Bloomington, Illinois. He joined his brother-in-law, John Larkin to found the Larkin Soap Company in 1875. The company was very successful, but Hubbard decided money was not the most important thing in life and he sold his interest in 1893.
