Q: I have a blue and white pitcher and five cups marked like this. Can you tell me something about the maker and age of these items?
A: Your mark was used by Ditmar-Urbach Porcelain Factory after 1920 until about 1945. The Bros. Urbach pottery was founded in 1882 in Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia (now Trnovany, Czech Republic) in 1882. It merged with Rudolf Ditmar’s factory in Znaim, Czechoslovakia, in 1919 and became Ditmar-Urbach. Your pitcher and cup were made between 1920 and about 1945. The pottery was taken over by the Nazis in 1938 and became Ostmark-Ceramics AG. The factory was nationalized in 1945.
