Last November, 400 dolls in the famous collection of Candy Spelling, widow of TV producer Aaron Spelling, were sent to be sold at Theriault’s, the well-known Maryland doll-auction firm. A TV special late last year showed Mrs. Spelling packing to leave her 125-room estate. Her antique dolls were featured in the show. But in April Spelling filed a lawsuit against the auction company, claiming it failed to give her a complete account of the sold items and the money that was owed to her.
