Robert Hanke Ewer

Q. This ornamental ewer belonged to my grandmother, who died in 1950 at the age of 99. It was a gift from her older sister. When it was passed on to me, I viewed it as something of a monstrosity, but my adult daughter found it fascinating and claimed it before I could give it away. We are wondering if you can tell us anything about its maker and age. The mark on the bottom is red. The initials in the scalloped circle appear to be “RH.” Under the mark are the words “Made in Austria.”
