Villeroy & Boch Crock
Q. I purchased this stoneware crock for $14 in western Pennsylvania in 2005. It has all-over sprigged tracery and a raised mark on the bottom. I wonder if you can determine its maker, age and purpose. It has a glossy glaze on the outside, a matte finish inside and traces of silver luster here and there on the beading. The mark is 7/8 in. wide and appears to have the entwined letters V and B on the shield. The crock is 4 inches high and 3 7/8 inches in diameter.
