I am interested in finding more information on items crafted during the D.P.Camp era. I have a dresser box that has carved artwork on it. The inside has a paper label adhered to the top with the inscription : “Made in D.P. Camp “ANNEX”, Wasserburg, Traunstein Area, Team 1069″. There are other stamps on the bottom indicating “US Zone” and “Employment Branch”. Would anyone consider commenting on this unique item? I have done some research on D.P.Camps, but have not found anything on crafts or exported items.

People interested in such matters should make sure they have a correct list of DP Camps which greatly helps research. Often the items were not marked as originating from a DP Camp but merely contained the one or other hint.

And yes, these items are very hard to find as they were made from cheap materials and not intended to survive for ages – they were merely a method of keeping people occupied while waiting to leave camp.

Anyway, your item shows an addition ”Made in D.P. Camp “ANNEX”, Wasserburg, Traunstein Area, Team 1069″ … the DP Camp in question was located in the city of Wasserburg, its official designation however was “DP Camp Gabersee” (Gabersee is one of the 22 districts of Wasserburg).
