Hello. I have a J B Van Sciver dining room set. It comes with 5 side chairs and 1 captain chair. On the bottom of the table, there is a metal plate that says J B Sciver since 1880. The thin veneer on top of table has chipped away in a few places. The legs of the chairs have some cracking from dryness. I am just wondering if someone could tell me the value of this set? I believe that the set may be maple.

Thank you,
Ronita

Forgot to say that it is most likely hard rock maple !! That was the most popular wood from that time !! Our dining set from that time was also hard rock maple !!

Hello.

Thank you for getting back to me. I am sorry that there is not a picture of the entire set. I did minimize size of pictures, but for some reason, the picture of the entire set would only go down to 2.34MB or something like that. But thank you for your answer as to the value.

Have a great day!

This style of chair is from the 1960`s or early 70`s !! Cant see the table !! Pic only showed the damage areas !! but that is not really important !! You might get a couple of hundred ($200.) but I doubt any more and that is a conservative estimate !! These sets are not popular with buyers and damage makes it harder to sell !! You can`t just repair lost veneer !!

Hello.

Okay, I have tried to reduce image size. Hopefully the pictures come through this time.
