My 8″ diameter cut glass centerpiece bowl has a slightly raised ring as part of the inside bottom of the bowl. Wondering what it’s purpose is – drainage? Thanks for the help.

Good thought. Thanks. However, it’s only about 3 inches deep on the inside and is footed. So I think it’s a centerpiece bowl or fruit bowl.
Could it be that you have the top part of an antique punch bowl? Many were made as 2 pieces.
