Would love to know the approximate value of my genie bottle that I dug for 20 years ago. It’s 8 3/4″ tall, light amethyst colored, has an applied top, seems like it’s blown glass because there’s bubbles here and there in the glass. Looks like hand made fluting on the base part. It is made in 3 parts with 3 seams that do not go above the 7″ mark. No stopper. Small defect where a bubble in the glass is too close to surface. Any help appreciated. K

If there are seams then it is likely a blown in mold decanter !! This was common in the first half of the 20th century and yes,, would have had many bubbles !! The top and part of the neck would have been hand done !! It would have probably had a cork to seal it !! Originally would have most likely held cooking sherry or even flavored vinegar !! Remember many of the old TV shows mentioned the cook nipping on the cooking sherry ??
PS,, I have collected and dug many bottles over the years but have never yet found a single one with a genie !! Maybe someday,,,!! Cross your fingers !!

Thanks so much for the detail, I had at least guessed right about it being a decanter. I suspect the genie has escaped long ago; but felt so lucky when I found it anyway! I am still trying to get a feel for it’s monetary value, if anyone has a good sense for this. Thanks!
