I have a painting with the scene on aluminum background and on the glass front. It seems that the signature was “washed off” by the previous owner when she was trying to clean the glass front.

The only history that I know of the painting is as follows –
It was given to a collection agency In Los Angeles in about 1964, in lieu of money.
A woman who worked at the agency bought it from the agency for $400.
The woman’s husband owed me money and he gave me the painting.

It’s been hanging on my wall ever since.

The painting is approx 4ft X 2ft. The background looks to be aluminum foil and is a scene of a cathedral type building. The foreground, which is on the glass front, has figures of people, a tree, a man on a donkey, and the stairs are also painted on the glass front. I’m assuming that it’s a Spanish scene.

I’ve always been curious about this artwork, the artist, and where the scene is depicted.

Does anyone know anything about this type of work or who the artist could have been? Does anyone know the names of any artists who painted this type of work?
