Trying to figure out what to even call this. Looks to be carved or etched in a heavy resin type board and then inked? Its signed W. Hecht (I believe Wilhelm Hecht) and I got it from an auction several years ago. The only thing I could find was a photo in a book titled L’Egypte on Abe Books UK. The picture in the book is titled “Un Jeune Decendant Du Prophete (Young descendent of the prophet)
This etching is signed and looks identical to the photo in the book.
My question is, are these something that people would make reproductions of or is this the etching that made the print for this book.
I’m at a loss for value (if any) or what to even call this type of artwork.
Thank you for any insight.

The link above is not entirely for prints !! It is an old method of artwork and rarely used !! Still think a good gallery or museum should see it !!
Sgraffito is another form of scratching a surface to create art !! Doesn`t exactly fit this one though !!

If you take it to someone who can do a hands-on ,, please come back and update this post !! I would like to know what it is !! Good luck !! Hopefully it will be a good one !!
