My mom passed away 2 yrs ago. Her home was filled with antiques of all kinds. I am finally starting to go through some art work and came across this painting. The artist is Sara Hess, but on the back there is a hand written label that say’s Hillside, NJ. I believe the artist Sara Hess was from NY? I’m attaching photo’s hoping someone can tell me anything about it. There are a few flaws on the face. Thanks in advance!

I don’t see my photo’s…not sure why

Sarah Hess

I see no reason why it wouldn`t sell !! Except for the damage but it is one of her early works !! Do you have an art gallery close that might take it on consignment ??
Ahh Ha !! She did live in Hillside NJ at one time !! Read the link above !!

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! Do you know if something like this would be of value to a collector? I really have no room for it, and I’d hate to see it sitting in my attic collecting dust!
.
I have so many other paintings, books etc. that I will be posting one at a time

Those pics are fine !! The label on the back is from an exhibition where she entered this painting !! Artists often do this just to get some exposure !! Meeting people always helps !!
Above is a small bit of history for her !! I am not a member there so I can not read all of it !! But if I were betting on it,, I bet she had a friend or another artist enter a few of her paintings !! All they win is usually ribbons !! Its just to get your art in front of potential buyers !! Maybe she put their town in since they would collect the paintings after the show !!
