sorry for getting back so late, the items are solid brass with hand forged steel backs for going into the fireplace, these have been used in the past and have patina forming in some of the deep creases, and the bolds are square on back.

they do not have any signatures or stamps on them, they came out of a politicians house in new brunswick

Have you looked for a name on it ?? Where did you get this set,,?? Does it seem to be heavy or light weight compared to others ?? Can you take a pic of the back of the andirons so I can see how they are made ?? Sorry about so many questions but can`t guess a value without knowing more !!
I can tell you that the set is more for looking at than using !! That metal would not hold up to serious use in a fireplace !!
